The description explains the work: what you want to achieve, why it matters, and what a useful result looks like. It gives you a starting point when you open the item again.
A clear description also helps when you use AI to understand the item or propose a next step.
Use sub-items for the smaller steps
Break a larger task into practical sub-items. Keep each step specific enough to start without replanning the whole piece of work.
Confirm scope. Draft an outline. Add the timeline. Review the assumptions. Prepare the final version.
Keep the supporting context close
